Vehicle for
China 2026: Two Concepts |
by Björn Bernt & Roger Kellenberger |
|
| Too much traffic and too many people who are seeking to have a
car in China are a big problem for the environment and the resources.
Therefore it is our goal to create a vehicle which ranks between
a scooter and a car for transporting two persons or one person with
baggage. |
The vehicle which is propelled by green energy will inflate itself
while storing to save space. This is a transformation of the symbol
called lotus which means on the one hand wealth and things to seek
and on the other hand it is a flower which inflates in the evening
and deflates in the morning again. |

TONG City Bike |
by Rudi Moosmeier & Anna Pohlmeyer |
|
 |
What are functional and aesthetical characteristics of a bicycle
so that it can be an attractive alternative as an individual transportation
vehicle to scooters and cars in Greater China?
We concluded a modern interpretation of the traditional meanings of the three
characters describing a bicycle in Chinese: oneself => individualism + motion
=> exercise/ health + transportation => mobility/ flexibility.
Our approach includes research on Chinese symbolism, interviews
with potential users, images from the streets, and empirical assessment
of visual preferences via questionnaire.

Studium |
by Valentina Dalla Costa |
|
|
Studium is an extension of KHB, our School of Art and Design.
It's an exhibit space in Berlin where students can show for a certain
period of time some works they've done during a particular/relevant
project, like "China Design", for example.
My shop concept comes from the Chinese symbol huei, that means recycling, going
around, repeat. It's supposed to be like a big box,
where visitors can find different things inside: our KHB China projects,
chinese objects, clothes, books and pictures, a small "tea zone",
where people can experience the famous ritual of drinking chinese
tea, and in the center a "technology zone", where mini
screens show our movies and our website.

BUILD PACK SIT SEAT |
by Stephanie Hornig |
|
- building instruction for street vendor's equipment -
This building instruction should help poor street
vendor's to build their own equipment out of found and recycled
materials. Materials like bamboo and rice bags appear frequently
and can be found easily. |
A street vendor's equipment exists of a seat, a bag and a space
for publicity and displaying the ware. Portability is one of the
most important factors, but of course, ease and speed in packing
are inevitable. |

Picture Your Memories |
by Felix Binder |
|
| Taking a picture with a digital camera means to create 0s and
1s cointaining our memories. A screen is a decoder to transfer these
digital memories back in our world, to make them accessible. So the
screen can be more then just a part of a camera. Therefore the camera
will be redesigned. |

Short Cuts |
by Daniele Ansidei & Michael Otto |
|
 |
In this projekt our goal was to focus on relevant relationships
between our European visual perception and the different perception
we had during our trip. We wanted to avoid getting "inside" a
culture we wouldn't anyway start to understand - in the relatively
short period we would spent in China.
So, before leaving, we decided to concentrate on the relevant differences
we met on our way using video and photography as neutral media of
investigation. We focused on architecture and light and tried to
tell, through their observation, stories of the cities and their
inhabitants.

YinYang Armchairs |
by Joanna Mach |
|
 |
YinYang (or TaiChi) symbol is the thing that associates directly
with everything what is Chinese- especially for us, European people.
This symbol represents the ancient Chinese understanding of how things
work. It is combined with full harmony, understanding and supplementing
of two opposite elements. Yin (white) represents male element, while
Yang (black) represents female element. This directed me to an idea
of designing some product for couples. At first I thought about some
daily use items, which can be sold in pairs - one for man, other
for woman. During our trip to China another idea appeared in my mind
- why not make some relaxation furniture, that will allow couples
to spend free time together? The result of several weeks of work
are my YinYang Armchairs, that can exist separately, but can also
be set up together in a very comfortable sofa.

XIA - System of Shelves |
by Dorota Kulawik |
|
|
For storing and collecting things in small places, targeted
to living rooms and bedrooms. This project is based on inspirations
and observations which I had made during my monthly stay in China.
Impressions about this country - crowd and brightness - let me
wonder how to solve the problem of lack of space and also how the
shape of this product can call over my subjective senses regarding
China. I would like to base the shape of the shelves on traditional
Chinese styles with which I want combine technical potential inherent
in China. I propose three kinds of scale and according to the size
three or five spaces in the shelf.

Book "China unterwegs" |
by Juliane Pieper |
|
 |
Target:
Going to China, I asked myself, "what will I expect?" For
Europeans coming to China it is hard to understand the rich Chinese
culture and tradition on one side, and the fastness of the economical
and technical growth on the other side. Things seem sometimes completely
different, sometimes very similar to our Western way of life. Things
that are normal in China may not be normal for us. As a visitor
and stranger these things stand out for me.
What is it? What
is Chinese? Chinese students and I started drawing to find answers
by discussing each others work.
Approach:
A book consisting of sketches, drawings, explanations and little
stories about China.

pHoenix |
by Alexander Herold |
|
 |
How can a scooter be more practical, useful and much saver
than today? By using modern assembly methods combined with the latest
technological products.
The pHoenix has the biggest boot in its class,
it can carry for example a big handbag plus another integral helmet.
The pHoenix is also the savest scooter ever, by using the Di-Fazio
system for example we seperate the steering system from the suspention
system to offer a perfect handling in all situations. Additionally
the pHoenix is also equiped with an front airbag system to protect
the driver from injuries in case of an frontal-accident. And also
in case of an side-impact the driver is protectet by a lateral
protection structure integratet into the side-wings. |
